![]() 1960 Thames Trader tipper TAV 225 This was a one owner vehicle until it was bought by the present owner George Murison in October 1991. It was originally purchased around May 1960 by the late D Morren & Sons, who were granite merchants and monumental masons in Huntly, Aberdeenshire Having one yard in Huntly and one in Aberdeen, the lorry was needed to carry materials between the two and to deliver gravestones to cemeteries in this area. The cost of the lorry when new was £1,900 on the road. The lorry was originally suppllied by Cordiners of Aberdeen. It has a carrying capacity of 4 ton and is powered by a 4 cylinder diesel engine. It was worked for seven years before being "laid up" on Dumbennan Farm, which also belonged to Mr Morren. Restoration of the vehicle took 17 months of evening and weekend labour by the present owner. |
